Everything we sell is from a plant we grow. Here. Just down the road. No fuel was burned jetting from Ecuador or Holland. No diesel consumed on the long, long haul from California or Florida. As you know, most cut flower growers worldwide use pesticides and chemicals that leave a residue on their flowers days after purchase by the consumer. Sustainable growing methods create a safer product for consumers, reduce pollution of the atmosphere and ground, and create an invaluable knowledge base for growers on sustainable methods for controlling pests, increasing harvest, and reducing weeds. Sustainable agriculture methods employ the following strategies to reduce pests and weeds: crop rotation, selective cultivar planting, cover crops, weedy margins, compost fertilizer, individual plant pruning, and close monitoring of flowers. Fair Field Flowers utilizes all of these method as well as integrated pest management and applies only organic herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers and only as needed.
